What I remember is the day you gave…
The National Memory Day Creative Writing Competition is now open and to get us started we need your help to create our first ever National Memory Day Poem.
Sir Andrew Motion, the UK’s Poet Laureate 1999 and 2009 and the President of National Memory Day, has given us the opening line and we would love you all to help us finish it. We want to create a poem which speaks of ‘Memories’, whether you have experienced the effects of memory loss, dementia or Alzheimer’s or whether you know someone who has – add the next single line to this poem and so we can all watch it grow. Help us to create the first public poem dedicated to people living with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
All entry fees will be invested into the Memory Café Poetry project around the UK, placing Poets-in-Residence in memory cafes to directly support people living with memory loss by using poetry to encourage talking, sharing and creative expression.
