National Memory Day is a joint initiative led by Literature Works in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society, Plymouth University and The Poetry Archive.
Literature Works and The Poetry Archive have a wealth of experience working with professional writers and poets and making creative writing more accessible. Plymouth University’s English & Creative Writing department provide a dynamic hub for interdisciplinary research, teaching and learning, and literature-led collaboration with Literature Works through the Plymouth Literature Project, whilst its Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry enjoy an internationally recognised reputation in research and dementia care.
National Memory Day and its associated activities will raise much-needed funds for further research in to dementia and memory loss as well as providing opportunities for interaction and engagement for those affected. The resulting creative works will be a record of the memories and lives of all involved and raise awareness of memory loss in the UK.
